Charlie McMullin

On April 12th, 1951 Charles and John McMullin were initiated into Masonry by their father W.B. Willis B. McMullin the Master of Thunder Bay Lodge No. 618 in Port Arthur, Ontario. Charlie was living in Marathon, Ontario about 200 miles east of Port Arthur and had to travel by train to attend lodge. The two brothers were passed on May 17th, 1951 and raised June 14th of that year. John was installed as the Worshipful Master of Thunder Bay Lodge No. 618 in 1961 and was elected the D.D.G.M. of Algoma District for 1987-1988.

W.B. John McMullin traveled to Amherstburg to install his brother as Worshipful Master of Thistle Lodge December 27th, 1985. His trip to Amherstburg that year was a memorable one. He and his wife Mae missed their connection in Toronto and were put on the Sarnia train. Detraining at London, the Windsor train had already left so they were put in a taxi that was to drive them to the Windsor station. The Master elect got a telephone call to meet them at the station at 1:30 A.M. He waited and waited, no taxi. The station was locked, when Charlie finally got to a phone and called home his brother answered. John had convinced the taxi driver to take them to Amherstburg instead of Windsor.

R.W.B. John has been the secretary of Thunder Bay Lodge No. 618 for 20 years and V.W.B. Charlie has been the secretary of Thistle Lodge for 13 years (as of 1999).

"My life in Masonry has been very rewarding and has allowed me to meet a large number of true and trusted friends. It teaches you how to become a better public speaker and how you should associate with your family and neighbours.

To the younger members I would strongly suggest you get involved. Only through involvement can you really learn the true meaning of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth".
