History

Established in 1849, Thistle is the oldest lodge in Ontario west of London. However, Masonry in Amherstburg dates back to 1801 with the establishment of Adoniram Lodge. It was abruptly closed in 1812 with the advance of American forces on the British garrison at Fort Malden. Masonry in this part of Canada West remained dormant for 38 years until the formation of Thistle Lodge.

Thistle Lodge has a rich history, some of which is available on their website.
